Kumihimo workshop was established over 130 years ago as a family business, with a store in Nihonbashi. The company handles everything from dyes silk threads, creates designs and assembles strings. Ryukoku also crafts small kimono accessories such as obijime(silk cord used to secure kimono belt) and obiage, and also umbrellas and stationery using kumihimo techniques.
